Velos Cambrian Stretch 300May 6, 2021
Cambrian Stretch 300 km audax, Saturday 19th June 2021
The walrus might have left, but a beautiful mid summer morning promised a lot and delivered it! This year 18 riders left Tenby at 6am to ride 300 km of West Wales’ roads, with all 18 returning for a 100 % finish rate (zero DNF). Along the way the route took in some of the finest coastal scenery in Pembrokeshire before diving inland to ride most of the length of the River Teifi up to Tregaron. Reversing the Indian Summer route over the mountains, it was downhill most of the way from Lynne Brianne to Llandovery. Tailwinds this year made for a fast ride down the Tywi Valley to Carmarthen and then back over to Tenby. Later riders got slightly damp, but all finished well inside the 20 hour cut off. Times varied from 13h55 to 17h18. Well done to all riders! If you missed this event this year, why?! Better luck next year. The route is here.
The AUK Calendar event started 6 am June 19th 2021 from the Dennis Cafe in Tenby. Watch this space for next year’s event.
